I mean the gooroo's are always banging about how your websites and blogs should have a 'professional' photo of you looking, well, professional.

Doesn't come more phosisticated than that :p

Point I wanted to make.
Most home business owners are sooo dam serious and freekin boring. Nobody wants to read their stuff, never mind buy anything from them. No passion, no knowledge and no entertainment. Gooroo's have everybody in a box and they are scared to do anything other than what they are taught.
I was there, they said websites had to have a red headline, video under it to the left, optin box to the right
What a crock of shyt
I became good friends with Jim Yaghi around that time, I'd been following him for a while. Everyone loved him, said he was freekin awesome
But there was a dis-connect...
The gooroo's loved him yet he didn't do anything like what they were saying you had to do. Jim's website was like a 10 year old had scribbled it.
It was cool, and converted like a wizard.
He told me to fugk the gooroo's and go be myself
I did...
Made a shyt load of money...
Gooroo's emailing, skyping me, asking what I used to make my websites, telling me how great they were etc
I tell you this, why?
To go be yourself, think outside the box your business has been in.
Build your business your way, let your character show through. Attract an audience who want to listen to what you have to say.
