how far would ya go for success?

You watched any of the Euro 2012 championship? I have been. The group stages finished last night, England made it through, doubt they will get any further though :p

They played France in the first game of the tournament and it got me thinking about the last game between the pair I saw.

Euro 2004

England were leading 1-0 and pretty much had the win in the bag.

But the French team had other ideas, Zinedine Zidane in particular.

90 minutes were up, stoppage time, England just needed to hold on for another couple minutes.

91st minute France win a free-kick on the edge of the 18 yard box. Up steps Zidane, and scores, 1-1. England are devastated but a draw isn't a total disaster.

93rd minute, England goalie hacks down Henry inside the 18 yard box. Penalty to France. Up steps Zidane.

But as he places the ball down on the spot...

He is sick!

Yes, physically sick, on the actual grass, in front of millions and millions of people!

What's this got to do with you princess?

Zidane was a legend. World footballer of the year 3 times, European player of the year, has won European cups and world cups with France, European cups and league championships in club fooball!

A master of his craft you could say.

Set about everyday with heart and passion and became one of the best footballers to ever walk this planet.

Against England, he gave absolutely everything he had, until he was sick. But, along with his team mates, he beat England, when really, with minutes left, they had no right to win the game.
