cheques, lies and dvd's

One of my first home businesses was in MLM.

I don't hate the industry or anything.

But it just idn't for me.

However, I did learn some valuable business lessons while slugging it out trying to sell vitamins, potions and miracle tonics to my friends, family and people who either weren't friends or family. 

And I'm going to reveal one of those lessons in this email.

Here's the story:

Back when I was in that business, they introduced DVD's to recruit.

In other words, they did not want you trying to explain the business and comp plan and products to anyone yourself.  They (wisely) realised that a person (especially someone new to the business) would not be able to do it very well, and it is far better to have a "duplicable" way to do it.

Thus the DVD.

Instead of you explaining anything, the DVD did it. You simply loaded it into your DVD player and pushed play.

However, there was a problem with this. A problem the MLM industry STILL has.

What happens after the DVD stops?

How do you answer someone's questions?

What if the DVD didn't cover all the objections (these DVD's rarely ever covered all the objections, especially in under 30 minutes).

And what if someone asked "how much are YOU making?"

Ugh.

I hated getting those questions.

I remember a lot of people squirming and sweating when asked questions like that.  I know I squirmed and sweated!  Some people even got so flustered, they'd start lying about their bonus cheque size (never a good thing!).

Anyway, it was a terrible time for me.

But a GREAT learning experience.

The answer is simple, and profitable. 

Sell PRODUCTS!

A service is a great idea too

Products and service's which are unique, in demand, and pay you good peso's. 

Guess what else...

When you set up your business this way, you can market the crap out of it on the ppc platforms, yes you heard me.

PPC platforms.

Can't do that when you're selling the chance to make money to people who have to sell the chance to make money to people who want to sell the chance to make money to other people :D
